The trip to Utah

Okay, so it is taking me sometime to get used to having a blog and actually writing in it. I guess it is a lot like my journaling skills. What can I say. So finally I am here making another attempt to share a bit of our family with yours! We have officially arrived in Utah after a trying trip to get here. Wednesday October 17th, we loaded up the car and took off to Cleveland to stay the night and leave our car for 2 months. We end up in a sketchy hotel. Needless to say the toilet seat in our room wasn't clean and there was an old blood stain on one of the pillow cases. Ice machines were located on every other floor which seemed odd but hey it was just a couple of hours right? We sleep for a few hours if you can call it that and rise promptly at 4:45 a.m. to get ready for our early flight out to Utah. We load up the shuttle and we're off! Next we drop the luggage at curbside after shuffling a few pounds here and there and should be ready to go through security, however, Jackson isn't on the ticket so we have to check in inside now as well. Because Casey and I are on different flights and Casey is to arrive several hours earlier he gets his first solo flight with J. and is somewhat nervous about it, (don't tell him I told you that, wink wink). We check in and the lady at the counter tries to get me onto their flight and it just might of worked but my luggage had already gone through. So it is off to Cincinatti for both of us and then on to Utah for Casey and Jackson and on to Minneapolis for me and then to SLC. Now we're at security, putting are many things through to get scanned when I realize our video camera and camera are missing! UGH!!! We check to the hotel to no avail and call our neighbor to check our house again to no avail so I guess we're out a camera and video camera with the small chance it was left in the trunk of our vehicle, which we won't know for 2 months. But hey it could be worse. Eventually we can replace those items if we need to and nobody was hurt so we're moving on. Casey gets flagged for having a screwdriver in his carry-on???? Guess not a screw driver, just his medical equipment. In the meantime, we are needing to hustle on through to get to our gate on time and we still need breakfast and of course the pregnant lady needs to go to the bathroom. So we make a couple of pit stops. Potty, then breakfast. Breakfast consists of bagels, fruit, and a yummy looking smoothy. I say yummy looking because I never got to even taste it! That's right we get down the ramp and are trying to get J. out of the stroller and collapse it when the $7.00 airport smoothie tips, tumbles and finally lands on the stroller base and then the airport floor, demolishing the cup and leaving a yummy sticky mess everywhere! At this point we cut our losses and load up onto the plane as best we can where J. dumps half his fruit onto the plane floor. What do ya do??? We arrive in Cincinatti with no further damage and divide and conquer. By by boys, and I am off traveling by myself for the first time in 19 months! Next thing you know my flight is delayed an hour and a half. FUN FUN. I manage and luckily it just means less wait time in Minneapolis. I arrive in Minneapolis just as Jackson and Casey arrive in SLC. Casey has a wonderful flight, Jackson naps an hour and a half and the whole plane is full except the one row Casey and J. have to thesmselves. Casey goes to grab the luggage all 200+ lbs of it that's right my luggage arrived with them! I could of flown with them afterall. Oh well, I get to wait in Minneapolis and I have one more hope of getting in a little earlier. The flight before mine is going to SLC! I check to see if it is full and of course it is so again I wait and wait and wait. That's right my own flight is delayed! Finally after much waiting I arrive in SLC, and have never been happier to see my family. Oh and P.S. for all of you that might be wondering....IT'S A BOY!!! Jackson is going to have a little brother and we are thrilled! Who knows maybe they'll share a birthday. (Hope not though for Jackson's sake).

Hey there,
WOW...sounds like a crazy travel day! I can relate as we take Marshall monthly on planes. If anyone is reading these comments (20 months is NOT a fun age to take children on a plane). But I am glad you made it there safely!

CONGRADULATIONS on having a boy. Now you don't have to buy all new clothes which is a bonus...more $7 smoothies! =)

Love ya,

Holls
